About this artwork
The fourth work in the Masks Series, inspired by the elegant and melancholic lines of Amedeo Modigliani, The Lover is a plea for freedom against the hypocrisies of our time. The work denounces how contemporary society imprisons love and sexuality, degrading them to taboos. This foolish society justifies violence, condones war, and even tolerates poverty, but there's one thing it never, ever, ever forgives: sex.
The mask that dissects the face and… reveals the skeletal structure represents not the end, but the essence: it reminds us that beneath the veneer of social conventions, the heart beats and life flows. Love and desire may be forced to hide, but they will never be silenced.
Note on materials: the work is made with high-quality automotive acrylic paints, recycled for eco-friendliness, which guarantee exceptional resistance over time.
