About this artwork
My overarching theme is landscape. Here, I have created a blocked view that only allows us to glimpse what lies beyond. Nature stands before us like an impenetrable or insurmountable wall. It presents itself as threatening and aggressive, not as a readily available resource.

Marco Wachsmuth began as a graffiti artist and worked for many years as a mural painter before turning to oil painting on canvas in 2017. His art explores the tension between impressionism and expressionism, playing with shifts in perspective and collage-like effects. His works investigate landscape as a place of longing, a surface for projection, and a field for experimentation in painting. His paintings resonate with the viewer and invite them to emotionally discover new dimensions of landscape and painting.
