About this artwork
Painting based on the famous face from Sandro Botticelli's painting "The Birth of Venus" Marcos Carrasco has always been fascinated by this painting that he contemplated one summer in the Botticelli Room at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. In this work, I explore the ephemeral nature of human emotion through bold brushstrokes and a vibrant color palette, using acrylics and oils. My intention is to capture the fluid transition of emotional states,…
reflected in the pensive gaze and fusion of colors on the subject's face. Rooted in expressionism and semi-abstraction, this painting invites reflection and brings a contemplative and dynamic energy to any space.

« "I am a restless artist who thrives on surprise. I delve into the subconscious, unlocking the mysteries of inspiration. I don't paint the work, the work paints me." »
Marcos Carrasco is a Spanish painter who has exhibited in the United States, China, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain. His classically inspired contemporary pieces delve into the geography of the human form and how the “skin landscape” transcends the physical and evolves into creation. Reconciling abstract creations and the figurative, Carrasco begins with the first layer in acrylics then adds oils. Next, he digitizes the piece, which is printed onto various materials such as wood and aluminium.
