My painting, "Mac Mick," is a postmodern paraphrase of Italian painter Michelangelo Caravaggio's "Fruit Basket," as well as a play on associations with a popular fast-food sandwich. The painting dates back to a time when the adjective "postmodern" wasn't yet considered an insult, and it's one of the first examples of this aesthetic in my work. Moreover, at over two meters long, it also plays with the conventions of intimate still life.
