About this artwork
The melting of the North Pole in the Arctic is the cause of the polar bears' extinction. Added to this are the plans of many countries to extract oil and other resources. This could have catastrophic consequences for all global life on our blue planet. Polar bears are hunted, climate change is decimating them, their hunting grounds are shrinking, and their survival is threatened.
Maria Isabel Montoya Gomez, born in Colombia, draws on a rich background in anthropology, architectural drawing, and fine arts, working with watercolor, pastel, ink, oil, acrylic, photography, installation, and performance. She employs techniques that oscillate between abstraction and realism, transforming bold, joyful colors and representational motifs into new dimensions. Her art addresses humanism and ecology, conveying profound emotions regarding the fragility of the Earth—she aims to raise awareness among viewers of the beauty and vulnerability of our world. Over the past forty years, she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and Colombia. If anyone is interested in my work, I have newspaper articles and a catalog available.
