About this artwork
This painting was inspired by a journey along the Rhine River. Traveling by boat at night, I watched the quiet rhythm of the water and the distant glow of city lights reflecting on the surface of the river.
Along the Rhine, ships slowly approach small harbors and ancient towns. In the darkness, the landscape becomes mysterious and almost dreamlike. The lights of the city shimmer and dissolve in the moving water, creating a sense of calm, movement,… and quiet wonder.
While painting this work, I was thinking about the feeling of travel itself — the moment when you surrender to the journey and allow life to guide you. Sometimes we believe we choose our path, yet often it is the path that gently leads us forward.
This painting is about that quiet trust in the unfolding of life — the feeling that every journey carries us toward something inevitable, whether it is a new beginning or the peaceful completion of a chapter.
