About this artwork
In Ithaca is part of my "Tales" series, again featuring the myth of Penelope and Odysseus. This time, I didn't want to focus the image on the queen of Ithaca, but on the patient weariness of waiting: an elderly woman, patiently reflecting, with a texture of torn canvases in the background. It's not Penelope, it's the wait of a lifetime, perhaps the life of any woman, captured in her old age. The technique is pastels and pigments on fine paper, this…
