About this artwork
In this work, I captured a quiet moment filled with longing and admiration. Using watercolor, pen, and enamel, I combined soft lines and sharp contrasts to capture, through the eyes of a dancer, the deep calm and preparation before her first big city performance, along with all the excitement, fear, satisfaction, stakes, and joy that are going on in the ballerina's soul.
