About this artwork
"Vertiges" is an illustration created with colored pencils (Faber Castell Polychromos) on 180g/m2 A4 paper, 21x29.7cm. This drawing is inspired by a haute couture creation by Manfred Thierry Mugler (referencing the photograph of the Dauphine de Jerphanion model on the roof of the Opéra Garnier in Paris in 1986) with a background of patterns inspired by marbled paper probably dating from the 18th century.
The marbling enhances the feeling of vertigo… the model might experience. The marbling also creates a play of light and shadow with the silhouette of the extravagant suit.
