About this artwork
Work carried out in Mallorca in 1987.
In a three-dimensional seascape you can see the sky, the earth, the sea on its surface and at the bottom of the sea.
This work belongs to the period when he painted bathers who lived under water, a very interesting painting because of the glazes and the way the yellow wheat breaks over the rocks.
At the bottom of the sea we can see an Egyptian sarcophagus and an amphora, all of it at the bottom of the sea… surrounded by algae, marine plants and little fish that swim calmly as if time had stopped.
Metallic paint was used for the sarcophagus and the amphora.
« Throughout my career, I have evolved through different stages, between new figuration and magicical realism, but always through my own style. »
