The painting depicts a bright summer day, a pond that reflects the forest and 8 koi fish that dance, greeting the sun. Koi are a symbol of faith, perseverance and good luck. According to an ancient legend, koi carp not only knew how to swim against the current to reach their goal, but could also rise into the air to jump over a waterfall. That is why in the picture the fish are above the water, not under it.
