About this artwork
The painting depicts trees with dark brown branches against a background of sky and water, washed by pastel tones of blue, yellow and beige. The scene is enlivened by pink carp that rise in the air, intertwining with branches. The carps are highlighted with bright strokes of pink and white paint, giving them a sense of movement and vitality. They seem to float in space, despite their usual connection with the water element.
In the distance, through… the transparent veil of branches, silhouettes of two figures can be seen. These shady outlines of people add mystery and can symbolize the connection between man and nature, between earth and water, between the real and the fantastic.
