About this artwork
"Flowers of Atlantis" is one of the paintings from the "Herbario del Eco" project - A visual meditation on the inner nature of plants.
Each of these paintings captures the echo of a plant, left by it in my perception. Not a literal likeness- but
an intuitive impression- species' spirit transcribed in pigment.
Observing the plants to go through their anatomical details into the realm of supernatural abstraction-
searching a vision to hover between… two worlds- as precise as a field study, as mysterious as a dream.
Executed on fine natural stone plates, using a technique developed through years of research-a
reinterpretation of Paleolithic cave painting and Renaissance al fresco-each piece fuses earth pigments
with the mineral surface itself. Simultaneously stone is not a passive surface but a collaborator, its every
contour and vein guiding my hand and imagination. Unearthed, not constructed.

Marja Davidoff is a painter, sculptor, and digital artist from Crimea who studied in Milan and Rome before dedicating herself to a contemplative practice in Austria’s Bohemian Forest. She fuses classical techniques with intuitive approaches, painting on canvas and stone with natural pigments, blending Mannerist virtuosity and Gothic sincerity to explore mythic symbols and sacred archetypes. Her art unites opposing forces and invites viewers into a silent, transcendent world, conveying a profound sense of stillness, mystery, and connection with life’s deeper rhythms.
