"De natura" symbolizes the constant change of nature. Thus, the original image, a garden landscape, was removed as an expression of the constant transformation in nature.
Markus Reiter works with painting and drawing on paper and canvas, drawing on his extensive training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He primarily uses gouache, oil, and acrylic paints, graphite, colored pencils, and spray paint. His style combines abstraction and figuration, with the non-finito—the unfinished, such as omitted figures, empty spaces, or even removed sections of the image—being a central technical element. His works reflect profound philosophical questions such as change and the pursuit of knowledge, inviting viewers to discover their own insights and emotions reflected in art. Palimpsettling—the scraping, tearing, and reworking of writing and images—is another key technique. The "erasure" or "re-creation" of an existing image symbolizes the process of change and transformation, and ultimately serves as a metaphor for humanity's search for its true self.
