About this artwork
In this piece, I poured emotions of mystery and transition, blending surreal forms to evoke a dreamlike journey. The figures stand as silent witnesses to a shifting world, symbolizing the passage of time and the search for meaning. This painting invites your space to breathe contemplation and wonder, stirring deep reflection and a sense of timeless connection.
It is one of my latest paintings, everything in it comes from feelings and visions that… I feel are happening around us.
I feel like I belong to the medieval period, I love castles, romanticism, and that probably has something to do with my origins.
Despite being an almost abstract painting, each brushstroke has its meaning, and those characters, expectant and calm, look out at the world with an attitude of waiting. And among them, the figure of a girl in red boots—could that be me? I'll leave you to guess, and I hope you like it!

Martha Escondeur is an award-winning painter and sculptor based in Uraguay whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the Netherlands and Spain. Many of her pieces relate to the human being and are a translation of their experiences and emotions. Escondeur endeavors to capture what she observes in the "other", whether visible, clear, or subtle. In addition, symbolic meaning is often imbued her composition's narratives. She creates using oils, acrylics, and gilding on canvas.
