About this artwork
My work is an abstract interpretation of life's constant change and flux, captured in acrylic. I've used bold brushstrokes and a contrasting palette of grays, blacks, and pops of red to evoke the intensity and passion that often accompany our personal journeys. When I work in abstraction, I use palette knives and different tools that allow me to create textures and blend with colors, so that hidden mysteries emerge almost without thinking. Why black and white? The good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the contrasts, and that's what life is all about!

Martha Escondeur is an award-winning painter and sculptor based in Uraguay whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the Netherlands and Spain. Many of her pieces relate to the human being and are a translation of their experiences and emotions. Escondeur endeavors to capture what she observes in the "other", whether visible, clear, or subtle. In addition, symbolic meaning is often imbued her composition's narratives. She creates using oils, acrylics, and gilding on canvas.
