Mary Abushar is a painter and printmaker with an extensive academic background, having studied at the American University of Beirut, Hornsey College of Art in London, and Purdue University in the USA. She employs natural, unforced techniques in both drawing and painting, often working directly from life without preliminary planning to maintain an intuitive and fluid style. Her art radiates serenity, aiming to evoke deep peace, tranquility, and enduring beauty in all who engage with her works.
She is also an educator, author, and pianist. After obtaining a doctorate in education administration from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, USA, she served as principal of a parochial school in Los Angeles. She left the position of principal to write and illustrate children's books. Book One of her series about Tyler the Rabbit, "Tyler's Promised Gift", which she rewrote in French, "Cadeau Promis à Tyler", has won the Mom's Choice Award Honouring Excellence, and a five-star rating.
