In memory of those who lost their eyes on the way to their precious goal.
This piece reflects a moment where vision rises beyond the physical. The smooth white marble, crossed by gentle gray veins, suggests both vulnerability and quiet strength. The form symbolizes eyes that have taken flight — carrying with them courage, hope, and the inner clarity of those who continued to see with their spirit when sight was taken from them.…
“Eyes that flew” honors the resilience of individuals whose determination could not be dimmed.
Maryam Shaban is an Iranian artist with a background in painting, graphic design, photography, and stone sculpture, educated in visual arts at the University of Arts. She works primarily with marble and river stones, using direct, subtractive carving and hand tools to create evocative figurative and abstract pieces that honor the organic form of her materials. Her style merges raw natural textures with precise craftsmanship, revealing transformative human emotions and the profound coexistence of strength and vulnerability. Shaban’s sculptures exude healing, transcendence, and the enduring memory of nature, inviting viewers to rediscover their own creative spirit.
