About this artwork
The artist conceived the pictorial space painted with acrylic as an imaginative sea divided into portions outlined by a thin charcoal contour line, which intersects in a game of joints and mysterious apparitions. The subject of fish is often present in this series and is dear to the artist who sees it as an element of sharing and belonging. It is no coincidence that fish: archetype of female divinities, are the Christian and Hebrew symbol; even earlier… deified by the Mesopotamians and the Greeks and later found as pagan or religious symbols in various ancient cultures.
« My Art is 'where I know the way', it is the place where I feel free to communicate and I am always myself. »
Maryda Geraci is an Italian artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States. She describes her artistic expression as the communication of short poetic stories, expressed through natural objects. Geraci's creative language is composed of signs and colors that are a reflection of herself, her sensitivity, what is happening around her, and the world she inhabits. She creates using acrylics and charcoal on canvas.
