About this artwork
The artist created a painting, deliberately not using any color. The work is designed exclusively in black and white and gray tones. By reducing it to graphic elements, the picture lives out of the light-dark contrast and the lines, sometimes positive, sometimes negative, come to life in this way. Like a painted drawing or a drawn painting, the graphisms weave into an organic whole. In the painting "Käferfrau", human and animal elements interpenetrate…
in the figure, such as those of an insect, namely a beetle. This transfiguration invites the viewer to be stimulated by the artist's imagination and to let the poetry of the work work in its filigree, with a touch of lightness.

« I have an existential need to express what I have seen or imagined using shapes, colors, structures, and lines. »
Mathias Wunderlich is an experienced painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally and in France. Describing his art as figurative, and representational, while being abstract at the same time, he is particularily fascinated by the
the phenomenon of life and its protagonists, living beings. For Wunderlich, expressions of life hold allegorical potential. He most often creates with acrylics on canvas.
