About this artwork
The Collmer lime tree, also known as the court lime tree of Collm, is an approximately 1000-year-old summer lime tree on the cemetery grounds next to the church of Collm in the municipality of Wermsdorf in the Saxon district of North Saxony, right next to the Collmberg in the Wermsdorf forest. The natural monument was declared a national heritage tree in 2022. With a trunk circumference of around 11 m and a height of around 18 m, it is probably the…
oldest linden tree in Saxony. The exact age can no longer be determined, but almost 100 years ago people spoke of the 1000-year-old. As early as 1949, the linden tree was placed under protection as a tree monument.

Matthias Bargholz is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Brazil. In addition, his art has been featured in publications such as the Ostsee Zeitung and the Hagenower Kreisblatt. Originally inspired by classical modernism, Bargholz views the line as an independant and active element in a composition, as well as being "the direct expression of intuition and the infinite possibilities of form". His distinctive pieces are created with acrylics and oils on canvas.
