About this artwork
In some cities or communities, old, distinctive trees are often protected from death by supports or rings. They are often centuries-old witnesses of a bygone era; myths, legends and stories are often attached to them. This almost hollow linden tree is clamped and supported by iron rods. He is not a giant tree, but he still has a special charisma - for his rescuers and for me as a painter. I live and work in the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve, in West…
Mecklenburg. This ancient cultural landscape offers many old giant trees, solitary trees - or just such striking loners.

« The inner man cannot appear to himself without magic. »
Matthias Bargholz is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Brazil. In addition, his art has been featured in publications such as the Ostsee Zeitung and the Hagenower Kreisblatt. Originally inspired by classical modernism, Bargholz views the line as an independant and active element in a composition, as well as being "the direct expression of intuition and the infinite possibilities of form". His distinctive pieces are created with acrylics and oils on canvas.
