About this artwork
I live and work in the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve, West Mecklenburg, Germany. It is the former German-German
Border area and therefore became a reserve after the political change, as there are many rare animals and plants here and an ancient cultural landscape. The painting shows an old tree in a wild thicket, in bright autumnal colors - illuminated by the reddish light of the sunset. When depicting the motifs, I take care not to abstract the forms… too much,
but to place the abstraction particularly in the colors of the painting, since the forms have a strong expressiveness...

« The inner man cannot appear to himself without magic. »
Matthias Bargholz is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Brazil. In addition, his art has been featured in publications such as the Ostsee Zeitung and the Hagenower Kreisblatt. Originally inspired by classical modernism, Bargholz views the line as an independant and active element in a composition, as well as being "the direct expression of intuition and the infinite possibilities of form". His distinctive pieces are created with acrylics and oils on canvas.
