About this artwork
Each of the three images measures 47x44 cm.
When I paint, my thoughts are free, free from anything concrete, free from any intention or plan. For me, painting is like music – a unique medium that words cannot adequately describe. I paint in the same way as when I sit at my piano and let my fingers improvise. Therefore, let the painting itself work its magic on you.
Like almost all my artworks, this one is also framed with welded and painted cast… iron angles.
Matthias Hürten is a self-taught painter who has dedicated himself entirely to abstract painting. Driven by a strong experimental impulse, he develops his own techniques, creating a distinctive style that defies any conventional classification. His paintings arise from inner motivation and express an authentic immediacy, while later works also reflect the crises of today's world. My path to painting was greatly influenced by the "Neumarkt der Künstler" (New Market of Artists) held in Cologne in the late sixties, as well as a small but excellent exhibition featuring works by Lucio Fontana. The "Westkunst" exhibition in the Cologne exhibition halls was also a very important experience.
