Matthias Haase, born in 1978 in Elsterwerda, combines painting, graphics, and other visual media in his work. His style is characterized by abstract-figurative painting and an archaic visual language, characterized by raw surfaces and a direct, expressive painting process. His art is interspersed with landscape elements and nonspecific, unrealistic figures, staged in rigid poses, and conveys a fundamental emotional intensity and brutality, immersed in a raw yet sensitively balanced color world.
