About this artwork
'all the ways we bend' is a piece from my Layers of Becoming collection. this collection was inspired by my journey into motherhood — the most transformative, beautiful, challenging, spiritual, soul-awakening experience I have ever embarked upon.
sleepless nights, first giggles, losing oneself, and then slowly rediscovering. from being her home to becoming her world, this is my greatest gift.
these paintings are about what we carry - what we can… see and what we cannot. the weight and the wonder.the bending, the holding, the quiet spaces where we are remade.
motherhood has changed the way I see the world, and it has changed the way I create. the marks are slower, the layers more patient, the colors pulled from earth and memory.
this collection is a love letter to my previous self, to the quiet transformation of becoming, and to all of the mothers who came before me.
Megan Ruiz-Krause is a self-taught abstract painter who grew up painting alongside her artist grandmother, evolving her passion into a dedicated career. She works intuitively with layered paint, charcoal, and organic materials, embracing earthy palettes and textured surfaces inspired by landscapes and the natural world. Her style blends abstract expression with emotional resonance, allowing each artwork to slowly reveal itself through responsive mark-making. Her paintings beautifully evoke nostalgia, longing, and a quiet, contemplative peace, inviting viewers to reconnect with their inner landscapes and the gentle transformations of life.
