About this artwork
What is the path a butterfly takes until it dies?
Detachment is the second piece in the series The Transformation of the Butterfly, a body of work that understands detachment as an inevitable phase of transformation.
The piece speaks of transition. That almost imperceptible moment when something begins to loosen before falling. An intermediate state where the awareness of time becomes more acute and fragility transforms into lucidity.
Like… the butterfly, the work inhabits the tension between beauty and finitude, representing the moment before; when letting go ceases to be a decision and becomes part of the life process.
Detachment is suspension.
It's the tremor before the descent.
It is the body understanding that transformation also implies loss.
