About this artwork
This painting was exhibited in a solo exhibition in Chichester Cathedral, in 2021.
Influenced by Turner and by the fireworks painting by Whistler, I aim to convey the way that light falls. In the plaster surface i have inscribed various examples of the ancient graffiti that pepper the inside walls of the cathedral. Copying them felt like touching the past.

Michele Griffiths is a British artist, born and trained in London. Although first pushed into an academic career, studying languages at Cambridge University, her determination to make Art her life won out and she went on to study Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art. Here she learned to develop her own unique voice as an abstract artist, subsequently painting full time.
