About this artwork
In this work I combine vibrant pop art elements with dark themes to explore the duality of life.
The vibrant colors and expressive style against the depiction of decay and death reflect the constant interplay between life and transience.
Pure "soul stuff", from deep within my heart.
It is probably the most personal picture I have ever painted and will ever paint.
Through the creative process, I processed the greatest tragedy of my life.
In… 2022 I almost died. I was even clinically dead for a short time.
However, survived this event.
This painting contains all my thoughts surrounding this stroke of fate.
This work comes directly from my studio and has never been sold or exhibited in an art gallery, museum or auction before.
Artwork hand painted with acrylic paint and other techniques on canvas.
Shaped by love and loss, Michael Kuhn manifests himself in his works through the use of acrylic on canvas, markers and spray cans. With an affinity for pop art and street art, he nevertheless rejects categorization, his works are anchored in the present and are a tribute to artists such as Dali, van Gogh and Warhol. His art is the expression of his charged soul and allows him to connect with his fear and his pride at the same time.
