This photo was taken in an abandoned castle in the heart of France. It shows a room with two antique armchairs. The castle was probably built in the 1930s. Today it lies forgotten in a wealthy French suburb and has been abandoned since the 1990s.

Michael Schwan weaves photography and digital art into a time capsule of decay, shaped by his engineering studies. With meticulous precision, he photographs "lost places", lets structures tell their story and leaves us to the magic of the ephemeral - a homage to abandoned beauty. His pictures evoke melancholy, deep reflection and a morbid aesthetic that transports the viewer into the silence and secrets of forgotten worlds.
