About this artwork
Hands of Snow is an optical painting which leads the viewer to question who the artist is exactly. I painted this piece over a seven year period. The original concept was a photorealistic painting of my friend and artist whose last name is Snow. The photograph is of him painting, in an expressive brushstroke, two hands making a promise. My hyperrealistic depiction of the photograph was finished 6 years ago. It was never complete as I recently added… my hand painting him. I chose to paint my hand with an expressive brushstroke to simulate his brushstroke in his painted hands. So the expressive hands surround my hyperrealistic painting of the artist. This is my painting on linen. But who "exactly" is the artist, and what is the style. I will leave the rest up to you the viewer
« True art is created when the artist is able to connect on another level of consciousness with the divine. »
Michael Steinbrick is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in England, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Ireland. In his most recent abstracted series, "Vortex", he conveys the ever-changing billboards of New York City, combined with the limitless shapes and forms created by rain on a car windshield, transforming a seemingly solid city into a liquid landscape. Steinbrick creates exclusively with oils on canvas.
