About this artwork
The "Family" series deals with family connections and emotions such as love, acceptance, compassion, humor, and playfulness. These emotions are presented in a symbolic and abstract way. Part of this series was selected for exhibition at the Florence Biennale, October 2021. The circular shapes symbolize parenthood, the safeness of mother and family, and the ability to deal with hardship and grow out of this round, nurturing space. The colors and shapes… represent the ability of both children and adults to be resilient and experience the world as an optimistic and giving place.
« Creating art is my way of expressing myself, sharing messages of optimism, vitality, and hope with viewers and art lovers all over the world. »
Michal Avrech is an award-winning artist and art therapist for at-risk youth in Israel. She holds a BA in Art and a Master’s in Art Therapy. Avrech is a member of the International Association of Art, Jewish Art Salon, and The Stars in the Arts. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in the US, Europe, and Asia at major art fairs like Florence Biennale, International Biennale of Etruria, and FIAC Art Fair in Paris. She describes her abstract paintings as dynamic and universal, inviting viewers to reflect on their inner and outer worlds. Using fast, expressive brush strokes without careful planning, she paints as if in a dream. Her vivid abstractions are impressionistic and expressive, with intense colors on large canvases. Avrech’s work with at-risk children fosters aliveness and optimism, which she also conveys through her paintings. Art connects traditions and nations, offering hope to our souls.
