About this artwork
AA025 says cherry.
The title, aside from the word "cherry," adds nothing to the content of the work. It is abstract. Worse, it is without nuance, aggressive, powerfully colored. It is a multitude of cries and laughter that clash, without rules. Some people see it as a song to nature and life, others as a death announcement, still others as a landscape of cultivated hills. And why these volumes, these balls, these trompe l'oeil to animate a flat… surface? I asked the artist what he wanted to show. He told me:
- That's how it is! It's my brush and my palette talking to me.
I showed him the cherry, realistic and appetizing, which was not at all abstract.
- Eat it then!
I didn't insist. What is certain is that it is an acrylic painting, painted with a half-round sable hair brush, like the shapes in the painting, with saturated, clashing colors, without nuances, compromise, or rest.
Michel Constant, a French-born artist, masters watercolor, oil painting, acrylic, wood carving, and digital technology, building on an exceptional career alongside great masters. His technique is instinctive and experimental: he explores all media, integrates varied materials, creates according to the mood of the moment, and plows the material, oscillating between abstraction and figuration. Through his works, he brings to life a dreamlike world where poetry and the philosophy of forms awaken the imagination and invite a profound dialogue with color and emotion.
