« Matter and emptiness, light and shadow, curved or protruding shapes, are all hooks offered to everyone's imagination. I enjoy driving towards dreams, surprise, and astonishment. »
Born in Paris in 1970, Michel LAURENT (aka MichL) began his creative work in the lighting industry in the 1990s. At the turn of the 2000s, he immersed himself in the world of the École Boulle and received a universal foundation in wood sculpture, modeling, and drawing... An enriching approach, complementary to his engineering training (industrial design, knowledge of materials). Barely out of the Boulle School, he then completed several blacksmithing internships: Michel LAURENT then entered the world of steel. From then on, he devoted himself to metal and invested in new creative spaces in Haute-Saône. In France and abroad, he exhibits and participates in sculpture symposiums. As for his messages, he conveys them through installations, often large-scale... Through his contact with the material, Michel LAURENT often evolves his projects. This is why he carries out as many of the operations as possible himself in his open-air workshop.
