Some people say dogs resemble their owners.
Others say the opposite — that owners slowly grow into their dogs.
No one really knows when it happens.
Perhaps somewhere between the daily walks, the shared silence, the mutual suspicion of strangers, and the quiet agreement that words are mostly unnecessary.
At some point you simply realize
that the resemblance is no longer a coincidence.
The painting is not about a man turning into a dog,
nor about a… dog becoming human.
It is about a long companionship where the boundary quietly dissolves,
until it becomes unclear who is observing whom.
After all, loyalty, melancholy, patience, curiosity, stubbornness —
these are not exclusively canine qualities.
Sometimes they simply reveal who we already were.
