About this artwork
The work was created on galvanized iron through the corrosion of acids and salts, and was subsequently engraved and painted using wax, oil pastels, and various pigments in search of a story on the surface.
This enormous fragment (an iron panel), originally part of a massive industrial portal, is observed, studied, and interpreted by Milena, every scar and trace of its existence over time. It is then reworked, transformed, and recomposed to create… her vision. This process makes the technique unpredictable, and each work is an independent adventure. The only common thread is the material and its alchemical transformation under the influence of time and the artist.
In this sheet of iron Milena has created a Sicilian landscape: the village of Ragusa Ibla perched on the Hyblaean hills.
