About this artwork
While I was creating this work, my soul was immersed in a forest of tranquility and mystery. I used the collage technique to blend oriental and fine art, giving it depth and texture. The paper became a mirror of serene but powerful emotions, inviting the observer to get lost among the trees and reflect in the water the calm and purifying energy that floats in the air and refreshes the spirit. Minori Shimizu is a Japanese artist based in Italy whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in the United States. Her distinctive and fantastical works are principally inspired by Japan as well as the four seasons and the elements. Shimizu's compositions of origami on cardboard are flattened and unpredictably transformed into striking color fields, creating figurations inspired by nature, fairy tales, and imagination.
