About this artwork
Fragments belongs to the most recent phase of the ongoing series “Water and Oil Don’t Mix.” It is the most intricate and densely layered work to date, and can be displayed either horizontally or vertically.
“Water and Oil Don’t Mix” is both the title and the guiding principle of the series. The works emerge from a process of discovery grounded in the natural resistance between oil and acrylic.
By layering these incompatible materials on the same… surface, pigments push, repel, and settle into unexpected, organic formations. This interaction becomes both method and metaphor—capturing moments of tension, separation, and uneasy coexistence.
The series invites reflection on what happens when individuals shaped by different backgrounds, experiences, and belief systems are brought into shared spaces—whether a city, a country, or a community.
The series began during the GlogauAIR Online Residency (Berlin, Oct–Dec 2025) and continues to evolve.

As an artist, I am interested in the visible and invisible forces that shape individual and collective experience, particularly how environments, social systems, and belief structures influence perception, behavior, and forms of belonging. My work examines how these forces operate through what is shown and what remains hidden, and how divisions are constructed through fear, prejudice, and exclusion.
I approach my practice as an inquiry into tension: between visibility and concealment, separation and interconnectedness, surface and depth, detail and totality. Working across painting and mixed media, I experiment with the collision and combination of techniques and materials. Through processes of layering, interruption, and material testing, I explore transformation and shifts across media as ways of questioning how meaning is formed and destabilized.
