About this artwork
In a distant time, Charlemagne raised an army of twelve hundred paladins and mercenaries and went to make war in the good city of Carcassonne, occupied by the Saracens of King Balaach. Balaach dies and his widow Dame Carcas finds herself alone with her household to ensure the defense of the city. When the food ran out, she had the last pig and the last bag of bran brought in to force-feed it. Once the animal is fed, she throws it over the ramparts.…
Charlemagne and his henchmen are once again duped. Seeing such a plump and well-fed pig land, they deduce that the city still has great resources and decide to lift the siege.

Bruno Aimetti is a painter and draftsman whose works have been exhibited nationally, in the United States, Germany, and the Netherlands. His pieces re-imagine the scenes of everyday life in a playful manner. For Aimetti, his artistic practice translates the crucial need to remain off the beaten track and outside of mainstream artistic thinking. He primarily creates using acrylics and oils on cardboard, linen, or canvas.
