About this artwork
"Wild poppy dreams" (Rêves sauvages de coquelicots) by Mona Edulesco.
Textured impressionism oil painting on canvas 70x70 cm (28x28 inches), 2023.
This work was painted in impasto technique, rendered in a stylized manner, with thick textures of oil paint applied with with a diversity of palette knives and brushes. The painting arrives ready to hang, with framing optional.
In this painting, I've unleashed a rich tapestry of vibrant reds and lush… greens to capture the untamed spirit of a wild poppy field. Working with oils, I embraced impressionistic and semi-abstract techniques to evoke a sense of dreamlike wonder. Each stroke is infused with passion, aiming to bring a burst of energy and joy into any living space. The artwork is a celebration of nature's vivid beauty and the exhilarating freedom it inspires.
« “I have always loved to approach my urban paintings in a myriad of ways. I enjoy stylizing architectural forms using the versatility of oil paint and palette knives.” »
Mona Edulesco is a French-Romanian painter who resides in France and whose art has been featured in Parisian group exhibitions. Her preference for abstract cityscapes reflects her background in architecture and urban planning. Edulesco merges her experience in architectural concept drawings with the freedom and energy of palette knife painting into phantasmagorical textural impressionistic works. She creates watercolor pieces and uses them later as a reference for her oil paintings.
