About this artwork
In 2015, observing the water in front of me, the Plastic Fish painting was born.
A bag found on the shore of Lake Como becomes a picture of denunciation to raise awareness
the protection of the environment, specifically water, our territory, our habitat.
On the silk waves, a plastic fish floats and in its belly - the globe.
In 2016 the World Economic Forum also warned us of the criticality of our seas, informing us that if we do not change our… attitude, by 2050, the plastic in the oceans will surpass fish.
Plastic fish: 2015, felting, silky waste, wool, plastic bag.

« Man is the guardian of a force that changes the world in a moral, social and ecological sense. The evidence of this is the artists ability to shape matter, to create shapes and objects which are truly unique. »
Italian textiles artist Monica Paulon's pieces are enchanting and harmonious, inspired by her love of organic materials and the transformative nature of her craft they have a whimsical, airy quality which is instantly calming. Working with recycled materials which she relives through the ancient art of felting Monica's artworks are multisensory and evocative. Pieces reminiscent of the artistic masters Turner and Monet who inspire their color palette.
