About this artwork
This work depicts the dissolution process of a plane tree leaf through a naturalist approach. Beyond classical nature representation, it establishes an intellectual ground centered on temporality, fragmentation, and relative perception.
The plane tree leaf functions not merely as a botanical entity but as a carrier of time-space, a metaphor for life, and an element of thought. The moment of dissolution implies the departure of form, color, and being… from their own integrity. As the leaf abandons its recognizable boundaries, it does not disappear; rather, it evolves into another mode of existence.
As part of the "Disintegration Series," this work involves the conscious breakdown and re-signification of a whole. Each form plays a role in the reconstitution of a unified cosmos. Wholeness is established, then broken again; this motion continues perpetually.
Time visualizes itself in the work through the metaphor of nature as past, present....
Mustafa Orkun Müftüoğlu, a Turkish painter trained at Mimar Sinan University, masterfully wields classical techniques and oil paints. His symbolist style intimately explores the human condition, vacillating between realism and abstraction to challenge our perceptions. His canvases are visceral symphonies of hope, solitude, and the inevitable search for meaning, resonating with the complexities of emotional existence.
