About this artwork
This oil painting was created from sketches made on a Normandy beach. A whole summer of inspiration came from the amusing beach scenes, my job being to highlight some of the incongruities of this leisurely world. The paddlers in this canoe, energetic and well-equipped with sunglasses, must be very brave as they make their way through the fog.
Everyone can see it as a symbol of all sorts of life situations. But my pleasure in creating this painting… was to play with the beauty of complementary colors and the reflections and transparencies of the sea.
