About this artwork
This painting is part of a series exploring the confrontation between the fragility of life and the permanence of death. Produced using reverse glass painting, it proceeds from an inverted gesture: the charcoal drawing is printed onto a plexiglass plate, then the painting is constructed in reverse, from detail to content. This technical reversal accompanies the intention: to look differently, to reveal what remains hidden behind appearances.
A… black crow perched on a colorful skull opens its cry toward a sky inhabited by birds in flight. I wanted a contrast between the bright colors and the dark silhouette to accentuate the vital impulse, the primary struggle that runs through the human condition: to survive, to move forward, despite the obvious end.
« The canvas becomes the skin, the body for my expression. »
Born in Armentières in northern France, she has lived in Draguignan, Var, since 1983. BACKGROUND: A nurse until 2010, when she became a professional painter. Her passions include drawing and painting, ceramics, and sculpture. She participates in numerous exhibitions and is interested in contemporary art. She has participated in many international contemporary art fairs. EDUCATION: University studies and numerous workshops in various techniques. ARTISTIC APPROACH: Primarily visual, "I seek a rich, structured, and powerful painting, where graphic design, materials, and colors are interwoven, an approach where semantics take a back seat and are reduced to the living," without socio-political pretensions or verbosity. The medium: canvas, which becomes skin, a bodily expression. The depicted element tends to disappear in favor of lived experience, my own, but also that of the viewer. Large formats are generally preferred, as they lend themselves to gestural expression.
