About this artwork
The painting “Clown and Gymnast” from my Good vibe series is a story about joy, playfulness, and a hint of melancholy behind the smile. On the canvas, a clown in a red polka-dot costume sits beside a gymnast dressed in gold. Around them — a bright inflatable ball, strings of flags, and lights — all recreating the vibrant, nostalgic atmosphere of the circus.
Painted in oil, the work captures both the celebration and fragility of the moment. Beneath… the vivid colors lies a quiet emotional depth — a sense of kindness, vulnerability, and light. For me, “Clown and Gymnast” is about how art and play connect us with the simple joy of being alive.
Nargiz Guliyeva is a painter, printmaker, and digital artist from Azerbaijan, classically trained at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts with a background in restoration and set design. She works mainly in oils on canvas in an impressionist style, expertly capturing sunlight and vibrant color to articulate both the fleeting poetry of city life and the enduring strength of women and nature. Her art radiates warmth, light, and the joyous energy of life, inviting viewers to share in moments of beauty, harmony, and inner resilience.
