About this artwork
The autumnal landscapes of the small Russian village of Vasilki inspired me to create this artwork. The house by the lake is now ownerless. But it doesn't seem abandoned, as fishermen from all over the region come to stay and maintain it. Autumn in this region is called "golden" because of the abundance of birch trees, which are adorned with an ochre hue. The sun gilds the treetops, tints the sky on the horizon turquoise, accentuates the contrasts,… and inspires. This work was created using a multi-layered technique. I first worked with acrylic paint diluted with varnish to give transparency to the layers, then I added a layer of oil paint, sometimes transparent, sometimes thick. This work is imbued with light, sunshine, and the positive energy of nature.
Natalia Laletina works in a wide variety of mediums, from textiles to acrylic, oil, and epoxy resin, and works on a variety of supports thanks to a rich background in applied arts and design. She masters mixed techniques, combining superimposed optical effects similar to watercolor, experimenting with materials and styles ranging from realism to abstraction, while preserving a refined decorative sense. Through her works, she communicates the profound joy of inhabiting a world filled with beauty, sharing a contagious and poetic sense of wonder.
