About this artwork
I love the unpredictability of creating abstract works from acrylic pours. There are so many variabies to try to understand when making an acrylic pour - from the opaqueness or transparency of the paint (which will affect whether they mix together or stay separate) coupled with the overall viscosity - there's much to try and master. This is made using the double flip cup technique. I used book binding pva glue mixed with water (70:30 ratio) with… a few drops of silicone oil. The book binding glue helps the cells that form to hold together creating hundreds of tiny cells and the beautiful lacing effects.
Neil Holmes, working under the name Nipa, creates vibrant ink illustrations and dynamic acrylic paintings informed by his UK art education and a lifelong passion for creativity. His distinctive style blends surreal abstracts with contemporary detail, utilizing precision masking and acrylic pouring to mirror nature’s algorithms and sacred geometry. Through these methods, he explores the interplay between structure and fluidity, inviting viewers to contemplate consciousness and interconnectedness. His artworks exude energy and vitality, aiming to inspire awe for nature’s beauty and elevate the collective consciousness of humanity.
