About this artwork
This rather small-format painting was created in 2020 in a somewhat classically realistic style, deliberately avoiding detailed details and deliberately harking back to impressionistic painting. It depicts a little girl who is very dear to me, so the painting is not currently for sale and is intended to serve the purpose of demonstrating the breadth of my artistic work. It is actually an absolute one-of-a-kind and a rare find, as I have rarely had… this type of motif in my portfolio since my student days.
Such pictures arise in a kind of "intermediate time", when I draw inspiration from the themes that actually concern me, such as "Modern Man as a Simulation of His Self" (realistic series) or "Thought Landscapes" (abstract line), etc.
Nenad Selestrin works with acrylic, watercolor, oil, and mixed media, influenced by his artistic training in Croatia and Germany. His works oscillate between expressive realism, impressionism, and abstract styles, with light playing a central role. He mixes fast-flowing paints with spontaneous sketches, allowing colors and forms to unfold their own dynamics. His art captures fleeting moments and conveys joy, aesthetic pleasure, and an awareness of the uniqueness and transience of each moment.
