About this artwork
I look at this image as an impossible encounter that I wanted to provoke. I took the Virgin and Child by Pietro da Cortona and projected it into a present saturated with signs. The sacred, tender bodies collide with flat tints of green and yellow, pieces of posters, and a cold machine embedded in the scene.
What interests me is the fracture: the gentleness of looks and gestures is disrupted by the visual noise of the contemporary world. Timeless… motherhood, instead of floating in serenity, is traversed by mechanical, industrial, and advertising intrusions.
In this collage, I speak of our times: we still seek images of comfort, but they are crossed, torn, contaminated. I am not restoring the icon; I am putting it to the test. This is my way of saying that even the sacred, today, must fight to breathe through the layers of images that surround it.
« I will be a one-idea colorist for life until death. Formal transmission is essential to humanity. »
NENTAL explores the collision between image and transparency. Through plexiglass, he reinvents advertising posters torn from urban walls, revealing their hidden poetry and subtle violence. His works, made of shredded paper and fragmented slogans, become contemporary mirrors: we see as much society as we see ourselves. The plexiglass reflects, protects, and creates distance; the posters, for their part, recount the memory of a world saturated with messages. Between collage, light, and irony, NENTAL composes a visual archaeology of the present—an art of recycling and reflection, where each fragment becomes an echo of reality.
