About this artwork
Panspermia is a visual exploration of the self-replication of existence and biological continuity. In this piece, life not only arises but also copies itself in an endless cycle of expansion and adaptation.
I used an evolutionary collage technique: original drawings of my own were reduced, fragmented, and integrated onto a large-format piece of cardboard. From these nuclei of pre-existing "genetic information," the work expands through an intricate… application of ink using markers of varying thicknesses. Organic lines and cellular patterns connect the cutouts, creating a dense ecosystem where the boundary between the pre-existing and the new blurs.
It is a work that invites us to closely observe the microscopic detail in order to understand the macroscopic magnitude of vital growth.

Nicolás A. Urquiza, an Argentinian trained in drawing, painting, and sound and image design in Buenos Aires, explores the intersection of traditional and digital art using oil, sculpture, glitch art, photocopies, and animation.
